In 1885, Yong Koon, a tin and pewter craftsman from Guangdong, crossed the ocean to Kuala Lumpur and opened a small workshop to produce tinware. The Yu He (Jade Peace) mark embodies both the quality commitment and memories of home held by a craftsman who journeyed to Southeast Asia. In 1979, the company was granted the royal warrant by the Sultan of Selangor. In 1992, the company name was changed to Royal Selangor. Through four generations of heritage and a century of dedication, Royal Selangor has grown from a family workshop into the world’s largest producer of pewter.

Every Royal Selangor collection begins with the idea that pewter can hold more than form – it carries stories from one generation to the next.
For the Autumn/Winter 2025 collection, that belief manifests in designs that celebrate both heritage and modern living.
Unveiled to members of the media at an exclusive event in October held at Jeff’s Cellar – the famed limestone cavern at Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat in Ipoh – the Autumn/Winter 2025 collection includes elegant homeware, refined decor and signature collectibles, each piece bearing the unmistakable artistry that have defined the brand for 140 years.
For the launch, local media were invited to a specially curated two-day experience that included a visit to the Tanjung Tualang Tin Dredge No. 5 or TT5, the last tin dredge in Malaysia.

Royal Selangor, MING Unveil Limited-edition Pewter-dial Timepiece
KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- Royal Selangor and independent watchmaker MING have unveiled the MING 37.06 Royal Selangor, a limited edition of 88 pieces that combines handcrafted Malaysian pewter with a grade-2 titanium case.
The watch features a hammered pewter dial crafted in Kuala Lumpur, representing MING’s first use of the malleable metal alloy for a dial.
Royal Selangor managing director Datuk Yong Yoon Li said the collaboration is the result of years of development to ensure the final product reflects the intended craftsmanship.
“This is a watch made by Ming, incorporating pewter components. The collaboration began before the COVID-19 pandemic and took nearly six years to realise. It was not difficult to produce, but we wanted to ensure the story was told correctly,” he said at the launch of the timepiece here today.
Yong added that each watch is presented in an elegant pewter box, highlighting the collection’s craftsmanship.
“We scanned the dimples, reduced their size, and machined them to precise thickness and diameter, enabling the MING team to assemble the watch,” he said.
